RALPH MCINERNY 1929-2010

Mystery author and Professor of Philosophy at the University of Notre Dame Ralph McInerny has died at the age of 80. A prolific writer, he wrote nearly 30 mysteries featuring Father Dowling, several mysteries featuring Sister Mary Theresa (using the pseudonym Monica Quill), and the more recent series set at Notre Dame featuring Philosophy professor Roger Knight. Look for the display at the Elk Grove Library.

J.D. SALINGER 1919-2010

Reclusive author J.D. Salinger died Wednesday, January 27, at the age of 91. His most famous work was The Catcher in the Rye, but other acclaimed works included Franny and Zooey and Raise High the Roof Beam, Carpenters. A display has been set up in Adult Services.

ERICH SEGAL 1937-2010

Scholar and author Erich Segal died Sunday, January 17. He is generally remembered as the author of the best seller Love Story which was made into a movie in 1970.

ROBERT B. PARKER 1932-2010

Celebrated author Robert B. Parker died suddenly while at home on Monday, January 18. He was the author of several mystery series, including ones featuring private eye Spenser (which became a TV series) and police chief Jesse Stone, as well as several westerns.
