EARTH HOUR TONIGHT

Tonight from 8-9 p.m. (local time) non-essential lights all over the world will be turned off as part of Earth Hour, starting in the South Pacific with Fiji and New Zealand, and continuing with the first of the big cities, Sydney, Australia, sweeping around the world. and ending in San Francisco. Promoted by the World Wildlife Fund, this event is presented as a way to make Earth's population aware of light pollution and conspicuous energy consumption. In Chicago, the lights of several famous landmarks and locations will be turned off, including those of the Sears Tower and the Navy Pier Ferris Wheel.
