ADULT WINTER READING PROGRAM 2007

The Elk Grove Village Public Library opened registration for its Adult Winter Reading Program this past Monday. The theme this year is Fishing for Fiction. Participants are asked to read only three EGVPL books, selected from the prepared Reading Lists, between January 15 and March 11. Those who complete this requirement will earn a raffle ticket for the end-of-the-program prizes. The genre is "Mysteries" and the participants get to "fish"--using a magnet on a string/fishing pole and little paper fish-with-magnets in a paper "pond"--for the categories they are to select their books from:
Groupers--Mystery Solving Teams (i.e., Reginald Hill's Dalziel & Pascoe)
Angel Fish--Clerical Mysteries (i.e., Sister Carol Anne O'Marie's Sister Mary Helen series)
Doctor Fish--Medical Mysteries (i.e., Mary Kittredge's nurse Edwina Crusoe series)
Barracudas--Legal Mysteries (i.e., Lia Matera's Laura di Palma series)
Clown Fish--Humorous Mysteries (i.e., Donna Andrews' Meg Langslow series)
Goldfish--Senior Sleuths (i.e., Carolyn Hart's Henry O.)
Wahoo Fish--Western Location (i.e., James Doss's Charlie Moon series)
Swordfish--"Age of Valor" Mysteries (i.e., Candace Robb's Owen Archer series)
Puffer Fish--Journalist/Reporter Sleuths (i.e., Kate White's Bailey Weggins)
